It is now pellucid, the unfolding events in relation to the March 2nd elections in Guyana is not about democracy. It is about something else. Statements by CARICOM Chairman Mia Mortley, the OAS, and the ABC countries are collectively an effort to interfere with the independence of the judiciary. It is clear, their intention is to signal the judges on the CCJ that it is okay to ignore the issues of the law and rule based on their dicta. This is a dangerous development.
The Court of Appeal in Guyana ruled only valid votes should be counted. Now this confluence of arrogators is directing GECOM on what is a valid vote. According to them, a vote by the dead is valid. A vote by a man who was at the North Pole on Election Day is valid. Even the votes in the alien boxes, with no documents, are valid. In essence, these arrogators are attempting to define what constitutes valid vote in Guyana. A definition they would not accept for their countries.
For decades the PPP apparent voter turnout operation was a thing of marvel. They would go through the entire election cycle with lukewarm and lackluster campaigns, then on election day they stunned the other parties with 90-95% turnout in their strongholds. This has been a matter of great debate.
Some argued it was the PPP superior E-Day machinery which was responsible for the amazing turnout. Others claimed the superior machinery was not about voter turnout, it was about fraudulent voting. This was the machinery the PPP deployed, with great success, on March 2nd. However, no fraudulent voter campaign could be perfect. They will, maybe unintentionally, impersonate dead and migrated persons. This is not normally a problem because once the ballots are in the box they are never scrutinized. This time was different. The recount uncovered staggering amounts of discrepancies, irregularities, and voter impersonation.
Decades of PPP electoral fraud was exposed, and GECOM response has to be firm. The PPP cannot be allowed to benefit from this fraud. In sports, business, and academia if you are caught cheating you are penalized. You take performance enhancing drugs, you lose your medal. You are involved in insider trading, your gains are forfeited and you are jailed. You cheat in an exam, you are disqualified. This is how fraud and cheats are dealt with in modern society. However, in Guyana the arrogators are demanding the PPP be rewarded for their fraud.
If these arrogators succeed, they will undermine electoral democracy in Guyana for generations. The PPP voter impersonation tactics will be given the stamp of approval. The concept of one man one vote will be cast aside. This cannot be allowed to happen.
