The PPP has so far not made overt moves to touch the oil revenue that the coalition government has securely banked away in the Natural Resources Fund. No doubt, many Guyanese remain deeply skeptical about the PPPs self-claims of honesty, and what will happen when it eventually puts its hands on hundreds of millions of ever-increasing US dollars of God-given oil wealth. Afterall, several of the same persons who inhabited the PPP previous 23-year corrupt regime have resurfaced in its 2020 version. Foremost among them is Bharrat Jagdeo, the corruption czar. How can Guyanese be confident that their oil wealth will not fill the pockets of PPP politicians and cronies? Can we expect transparency and accountability from the PPP given its record? And what about the Opposition APNU and AFC? How robust and vigilant will they be in stopping the theft and misuse of our wealth? CONPOV will be watching.
