Like in Equatorial Guinea, this US$200M boutique project was just to create the opportunity for kickbacks. Sugar workers would have been better off if this US$200M was invested in training of workers for transition out of the industry, start-up loans for businesses, and opening of new lands near existing estates. However, these programs which would have been benefiting workers directly was not as conducive for corruption like the shining white elephant at Skeldon.
The PNCR asked PPP government to act on climate change, but they refused
It was against this background the PNCR went to parliament and asked the PPP Government to establish a Climate Change Commission. The PPP rejected the request. Instead, the PPP advanced the most perplexing and absurd argument that, “the large countries are to be blamed and they must provide financing for small countries to prepare for climate change.”
The ball is now in Jagdeo’s court.
Jagdeo now finds himself in the situation where he is protesting for elections, but is now refusing to do what is necessary for the elections to be held; returning to Parliament. Soon sympathy for his cause will begin to wane, and he will lack the moral platform to appeal to the donor community.
Britain cannot tell us what to do: Rohee
Former PPP Foreign Affairs Minister, Clemente Rohee, declared that the government didn’t have to listen to Britain. The Social Coup D’etat is dead, and the PPP is unraveling
The political tomfoolery of putting your presidential candidate to behave like a hooligan and thug is an indication of sheer panic. To have him in the forefront of an activity that threatened violence against the sitting president and a minister of the government is asinine. Why reveal your candidate as a mere hooligan and thug?

Not so long ago people in Georgetown were duped, and manipulated to act against their own interest. This effort was so successful, the perpetuators are attempting the same strategy. However, they are so contemptuous of the Guyanese people, they did not even bother to reconstitute themselves. The Movement Against Parking Meters campaigned against parking meters,…
The PPP talk about Haitians is really targeting Barbadians and Trinidadians.
The hateful, cruel and racist campaign launched by the PPP and it’s surrogates, against Haitians is pure evil. It is evil because they consciously decided to use Haitians as collateral damage in their effort to target Trinidadians and Barbadians. It is evil because they callously decided to use the European inflicted economic burden in their attempt to dehumanize Haitians. It is cruel because they are fully aware Haitians are not guilty of what they are being accused of, yet they persist.
