The frantic response of the PPP and it’s surrogates to Minister of Health Volda Lawrence’s call for vigilance is revealing. It begs question, why is the PPP protesting so much? Do nothing, fear nothing.
Minister Lawrence’s call is informed by the PPP track record of skullduggery and fraud. In 2006 the PPP, in collaboration with a corrupt GECOM official, brazenly stole the AFC Region 10 Parliamentary seat. No one less that the serving Prime Minister occupied that seat. In 2011, that same official attempted to fraudulently award the deciding parliamentary seat to the PPP. It was only because of the vigilance of Vincent Alexander that effort was thwarted, and the PPP emerged as a minority government. No doubt, if they had succeeded, like in 2006, the matter would have been tied up in court for five years.
In 2015, when faced with defeat at the polls, the PPP introduced a number of fake Statement of Polls (SOPs) into the system. They demanded recount at several polling places, even thought their polling agents signed the SOPs attesting to the accuracy of the results. Imagine the scenario if those boxes were tampered with after the count, and the recount differed from the SOPs.
The PPP track record is clear, they do not have an aversion for electoral fraud and corruption. They will try every conceivable trick to deny the will of the people. All Guyanese must be vigilant.
The PPP and it’s surrogates will have us believe that our role is to vote and go home. No! Our role is to vote, and stay active. After voting we going to mobilize those who have not voted as yet, then at the close of poll we staying vigilant. We watching that ballot box. We will be acting in accordance with the Lawrence Challenge.
