The COVID pandemic continues to sweep relentlessly throughout most of the world. In the US, it has spiraled out of control. Many European countries are bracing for a second wave and have reimposed lockdowns. And in Guyana? Our numbers continue to rise daily. We currently have a death rate of 17 in every 100,000. Only below Bahamas and Suriname in the Region. The urgent questions are these: has the PPP government the competence to manage the pandemic? Will it allow business interests to keep swaying it against good medical and technical advice? As the cases in Guyana grow, and as the PPP dilly-dallies over the effective use of curfews and lockdowns, it is the Guyanese man, woman and child who suffer. This is not only an issue to watch, But an issue also to raise our voices in protest.
